The story takes place in an idyllic English town where Beth Fairchild prepares a surprise birthday party for her husband Tom (Farthing: Rain Dogs). Due to Tom being a beloved doctor in the local area, most of the people in the village were present. When the gathering was interrupted by the police and Tom was arrested for murder, Beth's world underwent a revolutionary change. Beth believes that her husband has been wrongly accused, but she quickly discovers some shocking discoveries that raise doubts about his innocence. She confides her concerns to Tom's childhood best friend Adam (played by Tredaway).
