优秀的传记片编剧，不流水账，选取的人生片段都很精准的体现了主角的复杂性格，蒙太奇的跳时间法也规整有度不让人错乱。
我看到了一个嫉恶如仇、极其能干、相信科学、引领时代的天才，也看到了一个攫取权力、公报私仇、无视人权、虚荣爱现、恋母的偏执狂。不知道是不是真实的胡佛，但的确是一个令人信服的有意思的人物，没有落入传记片过度美化而苍白的窠臼。
比较失败的点在同性恋上，看不出火花，由此结尾对两人爱情有点拔高，也没有反映他深柜却迫害同性恋的历史。
视觉上也很出色，沉稳的学院派
